 How Mombasa port can lead to growth of the blue economy in the coast region.

The port of mombasa has been kenya's busiest port serving even the East Africa at large by exporting our agricultural products and serving the inland landlocked countries like Uganda, Democratic republic of Congo, Sudan, Rwanda Ethiopia among others.

In the year 2018 since the emergence of the standard gauge railway during President's Uhuru's tenure we saw the directive that for cargo to be transported by standard gauge railway to Nairobi and Naivasha a scenario that led to many job losses moreso those in transport business.

However the new elected President, His Excellency William Samoei Ruto reverted the key port logistics services to the mombasa port a move that is seen as key to reviving the economy of the coast region and restoring the lost jobs from the last directive implemented.

Residents in Mombasa have applauded the directive saying this will  create jobs moreso in the clearing and fowarding sector and road transport.

Many people had lost thier jobs over the time and also affected were small-scale traders with businesses such as vehicle repairs and food kiosks that has suffered a huge blow since the directive to use the SGR and the dry port in Naivasha.

Restoring the port services to Mombasa port would also immensely increase the port's competitiveness through giving the importers more and variety options for custom clearance and transport.

Being one of the many things that the coast region is proud to have the mombasa port is key to the development of the region and growth of the economy in the area and surely its a treasure to the benefits of the people of Mombasa and the coastal region at large.

The residents however await the full functioning of the port as per the directives of the New President William Ruto.
